Nirmala Sitharaman presents supplementary budget of Rs 2.35 lakh crore

The supplementary budget envisages mahatma gandhi national rural employment guarantee scheme, additional assistance to public banks, pradhan mantri jan dhan yojana under garib kalyan yojana and national social assistance programme.

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday sought the approval of a supplementary budget of Rs 2.35 lakh crore in the Lok Sabha for 2020-21. The additional expenditure of Rs.2.35 lakh crore will be rs.1.66 lakh crore as cash to curb the Covid-19 crisis.

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA) has been sanctioned rs 40,000 crore and public banks rs 20,000 crore. Additional assistance, Rs.33,771 crore under The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and National Social Assistance Programme under Garib Kalyan Yojana. Assistance has been fixed. Cash assistance will be transferred to women with Jan Dhan account, old age pensioners.

An additional grant of Rs.46,602 crore is expected under the tax deficit grant distribution to the States as per the recommendation of the Fifteenth Finance Commission. An additional grant of Rs.14,231 crore is expected for the development of health infrastructure to prevent the covd-19 blockage.

Rs 10,000 crore for food subsidy. Assistance has been requested. SIDBI to lend to small business rs 1,232 crore. Assistance is expected. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana Child Loan Scheme, the loan repayment is expected to be waived off at 2% interest.

Assistance to Small Enterprises

On May 20, the small and medium enterprisesector was up 10 per cent. Rs 3 lakh crore at 9.25 interest rate. The Cabinet approved the ECLGS scheme to provide additional emergency credit facilities. Small and medium enterprises facing the Covid crisis can avail this loan without any guarantee. NcgtC is providing guarantee for loan under this scheme. The Government will set up a fund of Rs.41,600 crorefor this project.

What are the pros and cons for banks?

Rs 20,000 crore to public banks. Assistance will help in disbursement of loans. In 2019-20, the government has released Rs 70,000 crore to public banks. The capital assistance was distributed. However, the government has not announced such a large capital recharge assistance for 2020-21.

Punjab National Bank has made Rs 16,091 crore in 2019-20. It was help. Union Bank of India rs 11,768 crore, Canara Bank Rs 6,571 crore, Indian Bank Rs 2,534 crore. Got it. Allahabad Bank rs 2,153 crore, United Bank of India Rs 1,666 crore, Andhra Bank Rs 200 crore. It was help. Besides, Bank of Baroda has rs 7,000 crore and Indian Overseas Bank rs 4,360 crore.
