Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday indicated that a ban such as lockdown imposed across the state is likely to be extended from May 12 onwards. Yediyurappa told reporters at a temple in Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru on Friday morning, “We are discussing this with the authorities. Taking drastic action has become unavoidable.” He said that in today’s and tomorrow’s meetings, a decision will be taken on what action should be taken.

49,058 new cases of coronavirus infection in Karnataka, 328 patients died
On Thursday, 49,058 new cases of Coronavirus infection were reported in Karnataka and with this, the number of people infected so far has increased to 17,90,104. The health department said that after the death of 328 patients of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the number of people who lost their lives due to this infection increased to 17,212 in the state.
In Bangalore city itself, 23,706 new cases of infection were reported while 139 patients died. According to the department, 5,17,075 patients are undergoing treatment in Karnataka. Today, 18,943 people have been cured in the state and so far 12,55,797 patients have been cured. 1,64,441 samples were examined in the state on Thursday. So far 2.65 crore samples have been tested.
