Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is tightening its grip on the family of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the coal theft case in West Bengal. Notices have also been issued to Mamata’s nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira, besides his sister-in-law Menaka Gambhir. Menaka has been summoned to join the interrogation on Monday in the coal case, where the investigating agency officials will interrogate her. This development has further increased the political temperature in West Bengal, where elections are due in April-May.
After a notice was issued against the family members by a CBI team, Abhishek had tweeted that at 2 pm today, the CBI gave a notice in my wife’s name. We have full faith in the law. However, if they feel that if they use these tactics to intimidate us then they are wrong. We are not those who bow down.
At the same time, after the CBI action, Mamata Banerjee said in a program that do not try to scare us from jail, we have fought against guns and we are not afraid of fighting against rats. She said that her mother tongue Bangla taught her to fight like a tiger and she was not afraid of mice. Without naming any person or any political party, the Trinamool Congress chief said that he has not learned to lose. The Chief Minister said in a program, “As long as I am alive, I will not be afraid of any fear or threat.”
Meanwhile, senior leaders of the Trinamool Congress alleged that the Central Investigation Agency has served notice to Banerjee’s wife on a day when in a defamation case filed by Banerjee in a Kolkata court against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Hearing has to take place.
‘Why Trinamool Congress is in so much fear and tension?’
In this case, the BJP questioned the leaders of the Trinamool Congress. BJP state spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that if nothing is done wrong then why is Trinamool Congress so scared and tense? Saffron party national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “If anyone has done anything wrong, the law will do its job.” Those who are guilty should be punished. No one should politicize the case. ”Apart from this, State Congress President Adhir Chaudhary said that the CBI should investigate without any political interference.
